It's great to be back for my second year at GMG! Last year there was a longish bio on this page that served to introduce me to the community. I thought I'd replace it with a short version for the curious.
I graduated from Chariton High School in Chariton, Iowa in 1991. I attended Simpson College as a Music Education major from 1991-1995, but didn't graduate. In 2004 I went back to college and in 2005 I graduated from University of Wisconsin with a major in Music, and a minor in Women's Studies. In 2007 I went back to school again to attain my Master's in Education, which I completed in the spring of 2008.
My own musical interests run the gambit from Irish folk music, to Renaissance part songs, to Broadway and Opera. I love a lot of different singer/songwriters, and most popular styles of music, and I try to incorporate as many of those styles as possible into our choral classes at GMG.
I very much enjoyed getting to know the SOAR students last year, and look forward to continue to grow with them and develop the program in new directions, while holding on to the activities the student have come to love so much.
