Welcome to a new semester!

JH Vocal Music

This class will focus on learning about different types of music than you encounter in your everyday life. We'll learn about classical music, opera, musical theater, world music, jazz, and other types of music. You will also learn practical skills to help you enjoy live music for the rest of your life.

 

Your grade will be determined by the following:

 

50% Attitude and Participation

20% Concert attendance

20% Concert performance

10% Daily attendance 

 

Third Quarter:

Since we don’t have a concert third quarter, that portion of your grade will be determined by a series of assignments and projects.

Concert Alternative

Students are strongly encouraged to participate in each concert. If, however, you are unable to make a concert due to illness or family emergency, you may make up the points before the end of the quarter by turning in the following:

• A note from you parent or guardian stating why you were unable to make the concert.
• A three paragraph report, or a video response about a topic in music that interests you.

 EXTRA CREDIT*                            Nov. 5 & 6                   Fall Play – 7pm Feb. 22                Pops Concert - 7 pm March 25 & 26              Spring Musical Sat. @7pm, Sun. @2:30pm

*Students can get 5 extra credit points by attending these, or any other live music event, and turning in a short review, saying what you liked about it.
